One of the most wonderful and unforgettable places to visit on the West Coast is Monkey Mia* (~800km north of Perth). It is home of the famous wild dolphins that come right up to the beach. The Southwest
Hyden is located around 340km east of Perth. It is home to the famous Wave Rock. This 100m long and 15m high 'wave' has been formed by erosion. Nearby you can also visit 'Hippo's Yawn', a rock shaped like a yawning hippo. Wave Rock
Stirling Ranges
The Stirling Ranges* are a very popular destination for hikers, especially during the wildflower season (spring).
Hike Bluff Knoll, the highest mountain in the Stirling Ranges (1095m). The views are spectacular.
400km south of Perth is the 'Valley Of The Giants'*
It is home to the giant Karri- and Jarrah trees. These trees can reach up to 100m in height. The treewalk offers a birds-eye view of the forest.
Some of the highest trees were used as fire lookouts. One of these firetrees is open to the public. Dare to climb the 65m high tree to enjoy some of the best views.

The Kimberley Region
The vast area of the Kimberley Region* covers most of the northern part of Western Australia. It is still one of the most remote areas in Australia. Almost untouched until today it has some of the most spectacular places to offer. Trips are only possible in the winter months. The major attraction of the Kimberley region are the Bungle Bungles. These beehive shaped rocks can only be accessed by 4WD (VERY rough road - guided tour recommended). Bungle Bungle
Echidna Chasm
Echidna Chasm is maybe one of the most spectacular sites to visit in the Kimberley region. At some points the walls are only about 1m apart and about 100m high. The Chasm is at its best during midday, when the sun has the chance to shine right down to the bottom. The light reflects off the orange rocks and creates a stunning atmosphere on the dry creek bed below.
There are a few other nice places to visit in this area, eg. Frog Hole or the beautiful Mini Palm Gorge
Find one of the strange looking Boab trees or huge terminte mounds along the road.
